Three key members of Anthropic’s Claude Code team have departed within two weeks: product lead Cat Wu, engineer Thariq Shihipar, and desktop developer Anthony Morris. According to ChainCatcher, Wu announced her departure from Anthropic on November 4, after Shihipar and Morris publicly said goodbye on October 24.
Shihipar had recommended following Wu for updates on Claude Code; 11 days later, she also announced her departure. In July 2025, Wu and Claude Code creator Boris Cherny left for AI coding tool Cursor, then returned two weeks later. In July this year, Jenny Wen, design lead for Claude and Cowork, also joined Cursor as head of design.
Anthropic continues to expand: its employee count grew from about 940 at the end of 2024 to about 5,300 at the end of September this year. The company reported a regretted attrition rate of about 1% over the past 12 months, referring to the share of employees it wanted to retain who voluntarily left.
