Gold’s trend turned downward once again, erasing its previous gains, and it ended the session at around $3,920.84, down 0.65%. The yellow metal thus broke below the $3,944 support level, which it had managed to reclaim around mid-session when prices touched nearly $3,960. It fell by about $38 (or 0.96%) compared with the previous trading snapshot at $3,958.89.
This decline came amid pressure from a 0.17% rise in the dollar index, supported by U.S. economic data that exceeded expectations, including the JOLTS job openings report, which recorded 7.523 million openings, and 1.8% growth in factory orders. Meanwhile, precious and industrial metals saw a broad-based decline: silver fell 2.36% and copper dropped 2.5%, while Brent crude remained relatively stable, closing at $104.36, down a slight 0.39% after a volatile session. Financial markets are cautiously awaiting the results of the midterm elections expected tonight.$XAU
