Russian attack on a medical center in Ukraine leaves at least 73 injured and more than 220 patients evacuated
Ukraine’s leader, Volodymyr Zelensky, has placed the attack among the 289 drones, 17 ballistic missiles and 59 cruise missiles launched by Russia overnight, noting that their main target was energy infrastructure.

Ukrainian authorities reported on Tuesday an attack on a medical complex in Kharkiv that left at least 73 people injured and forced the evacuation of as many as 226 patients to other medical centers.

The bombing struck a passageway between the buildings of a medical institution in the Nemishlianskyi district, in the eastern part of the regional capital, according to Kharkiv Governor Oleh Syniehubov, who said in a social media post that all those affected were already receiving medical care.

The attack also damaged other structures in the city, its mayor, Ihor Terekhov, said on social media. After reporting a “combined attack with ballistic and antiaircraft missiles,” he added that the impact damaged more than 1,000 windows in both the hospital complex and surrounding buildings.

Zelensky said it was “revealing” that this Russian offensive came as the United States was in the midst of midterm congressional elections, in which Donald Trump’s political stability during the final stretch of his term was at stake.

“The Russians believe that the United States will ignore this signal from them. But such terror must be taken into account and stopped. Ukraine must be helped to defend its skies; otherwise, Russia will never stop its missile attacks,” he said.
