ZachXBT’s November 4 investigation update: The EU entity robbed of more than $133 million on November 1 was reportedly Crédit Mutuel Arkéa, a French bank with approximately $235 billion in assets. The initial disclosure reported $106 million stolen from multiple exchange accounts, including $USDC and USDT, followed by the discovery of more than $27 million in additional withdrawals.

The route wasn’t complicated: Some USDC was converted into $ETH and sent through instant exchange services such as WellWallet and Kyrrex, then converted via Wagyu into $XMR and bridged across multiple chains. ZachXBT said he was highly confident the theft was unrelated to the Lazarus Group and questioned the institution’s lack of transparency. More than $30 million has already been laundered.

A bank with a compliance department had funds withdrawn from its accounts, and it took an on-chain investigator to piece together who it was. The window to freeze the funds was lost to Monero.
