U.S. chip stocks rebounded overnight: the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 2.63%, and AMD beat earnings expectations, gaining about 8% after hours. South Korea’s stock index opened up about 2.4% this morning. But the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield rose 6 basis points to 4.95%, its biggest one-day increase since September 28. The probability of a rate hike in December is about 78%.
ADP employment and ISM services data are due tonight. Is this a genuine bottom, or just a rebound held down by high interest rates?
