At 8:30 this morning, I was watching the market while brushing my teeth: $BTC 77,103, up or down 0.00% over 24 hours—flat as a straight line.
But the news was anything but flat.
Yesterday, Binance held a briefing and said the source of that $6.3 billion hack was a fake job interview. North Korea-linked attackers had spent months infiltrating the organization. No matter how strong your tech is, it can’t protect you from being tricked. I thought about this all night: what you think of as “security” often hinges on the most ordinary link in the chain.
In the markets, the Fear & Greed Index has climbed from 26 to 34, but it’s still in “Fear” territory. $ETH +0.59%, $BNB -0.74%, holding around 695; SOL at 92.3. ZEC tops today’s gainers at +4.96%, making it the strongest among the major coins.
I’m watching three things today:
• The results of the U.S. midterm elections, which could affect regulatory expectations
• Progress in U.S.-Iran peace talks—risk assets have been quite sensitive to this lately
• Whether BTC can hold the 76.4k low; 78k is the level to watch above
