Chinese regulators reportedly told investment banks to pause new IPO applications and delay large share sales to ease selling pressure, potentially unsettling U.S. markets. The Financial Times reported the instructions, which Reuters could not independently verify, according to BeInCrypto. Similar curbs in 2015 coincided with a selloff: the Shanghai Composite fell 8.5% on August 24 and the Dow closed 588 points lower after dropping more than 1,000 intraday; the IPO freeze itself did not cause the U.S. decline. China’s CSI 300 lost 8.5% in October, while the Nasdaq-100 fell more than 10% from its October peak. Morgan Stanley said in late October Chinese stocks could fall another 10% to 15% before bottoming.
