【Binance hack spooks South Korea! 99% of exchange crypto may have to be locked in cold wallets】
After $6.3 billion was stolen from a Binance hot wallet, South Korea’s Financial Services Commission urgently met with local exchanges on November 2. It is discussing raising the required proportion of customer assets held in cold wallets from 80% to around 99%—meaning that, out of every 100 coins, only one could remain online. No decision has been made yet. According to data from the end of September, Upbit was already at 99.17%, Bithumb at 94.76%, and Coinone at just 85%. If the proposal takes effect, withdrawals could become slower.
