November 3 Research Notes: Borrowing Forecasts, Operating Cash, and Trading Volumes

Historical facts excerpt: Events are current through 23:59 Beijing time on November 3, 2026; evidence collection and compilation extended into November 4. Includes supplemental information disclosed on November 2; it does not represent new events on November 3.

① U.S. Treasury | Stage 2, A-P primary forecast
On November 2, Q4 net borrowing was estimated at $618 billion, $10 billion less than in August; excluding the effect of higher beginning cash balances, it was actually $24 billion higher. Q1 2027 is estimated at $800 billion, with assumed end-of-quarter cash balances of $850 billion and $1 trillion, respectively. These are forecasts, not debt already issued.
Research implication (inference): A downward revision does not necessarily mean financing needs have improved; cash balances must also be considered. Excludes the refinancing details released on November 4.

② Apple | Stages 4/5, A primary source
On November 2, Apple reported revenue of $114.5 billion for the quarter ended September 26, up 12% year over year; operating cash flow of $28 billion; gross margin of 47.9%; and EPS of $2.10. Tariff refunds contributed approximately 1 percentage point to gross margin and $0.05 to EPS.
Research implication (inference): The company has delivered on operating performance, but this cannot be attributed to any one AI product; capital expenditures must be subtracted from operating cash flow before discussing free cash flow.

③ CME | Stage 3, A company’s original publication channel
Disclosed at 20:30 Beijing time on November 3: October average daily volume was 30 million contracts, up 15% year over year; interest rates volume was 14.8 million contracts, up 28%; and U.S. Treasury futures and options volume was 9.2 million contracts, up 48%. Micro equity index products accounted for 50% of average daily equity index volume.
Research implication (inference): Actual usage is growing, but product mix and net fees per contract are not yet available, so revenue and profit growth of 15% cannot be inferred.

④ Aave | Stage 3, A primary source
The October recap disclosed on November 2 reported that V4 deposits exceeded $1.5 billion and that the first external curator, Sentora, had joined. The forum shows 12:14 p.m., but the time zone is unverified, so it is not counted as a confirmed new development within a strict hourly window.
Research implication (inference): Deposit size is not the same as that day’s net inflows, DAO net profit, or AAVE buybacks. Confirming that buybacks have resumed requires three pieces of evidence: an update on funding, authorization to resume, and the first market purchase.
