Binance has released a preliminary investigation report on the October 29 security incident.

The announcement said the incident affected approximately $6.34 billion in digital assets, of which about $2.85 billion has been frozen or blocked. Binance has set aside more than 100% of the required funds. As of October 31, 98% of the affected token assets had been replenished and can be verified on the Proof of Reserves page.

The report said this was a multi-stage attack that used tactics such as fake job interviews and malware. The entry points used in the attack have been shut down, and the affected systems have been rebuilt or replaced. Third-party security firms will also be brought in to conduct an independent review. The investigation is ongoing.

Richard Teng posted that Binance accepts full responsibility and that no users will incur losses.
