A contraction in supply ≠ an immediate price rise: the NEAR community approved gradually lowering the annual maximum issuance rate from 2.5% to 1.6%, meaning about 11.8 million fewer NEAR will be issued over two years, yet the token still fell roughly 7%. What matters more is whether the change takes effect after the 14-day Security Council veto period, whether holders remain willing to stake after yields drop from about 5.2% to 3.3%, and whether the reduced-issuance narrative can offset short-term selling pressure. Don’t read approval of the issuance-cut proposal as a direct signal of a price turnaround, and don’t overlook the possibility that lower yields could drive some staked funds out.
