🇺🇸 REGULATION: The CFTC, the U.S. derivatives regulator, has approved perpetual futures on individual stocks for the first time on regulated U.S. exchanges.
The decision allows platforms dually registered with the CFTC and SEC to offer contracts linked to the prices of specific stocks, according to The Block, Bitcoin Magazine, and CoinDesk. Industry media report that they will be tradable 24 hours a day, every day.
A perpetual future is a derivatives contract with no expiration date, commonly used in cryptocurrency trading. According to CoinDesk, the move brings this model to Wall Street under the joint supervision of both agencies.
It has not been announced which platforms will launch the products or when trading will begin.
