At 11:13 p.m., I tapped the stop-loss button. My finger hovered over the screen for three seconds before I finally pressed it.

Down 412U. Not a huge loss, but it was my first losing trade this month.

₿ BTC is at 77,424 right now, down just 0.7% in 24 hours. Looks pretty tame. But the thing is, I chased that long position in around 78,600. Looking back, the reason makes me cringe—everyone was saying the Nasdaq’s correction was over and Apple’s earnings were nothing special, and somehow I thought I could have it both ways with “gold as a safe haven + crypto playing catch-up.” XAUT is at 3,932, down just 0.4% on the day. Its tiny move feels like it’s mocking me: it barely moved at all. I was the one messing around.

Three things from my review, for my own ears:
1. XAUT is a slow-moving asset, but I went at it with the position size and trigger finger I use for BTC;
2. The system signal clearly said “wait and see” that day. I didn’t like the look of it, so I manually changed it to bullish;
3. After taking a loss, I wanted to make it back right away—and I fell into the same trap a second time.

I don’t regret setting the stop-loss. I regret having grid trading and signals available, but choosing to trust my “gut” instead.

A genuine question: the last time you manually intervened in your system, did you make money or lose money? Be honest in the comments. I’ll read every one.

I’ll share what I do with this position tomorrow, as soon as I can. Give me a follow—I don’t want to carry this alone.
