🔥 Bafang Evening Brief|11.3 Election Day: Apple and Palantir beat earnings expectations, but their shares are still down premarket

First, last night’s close: Nasdaq fell 1.07%, S&P 500 fell 0.51%, while the Dow actually rose 0.41%.
The Nasdaq 100 is now down 10% from its October high, officially entering a technical correction.

🍎 $AAPL down about 4% premarket
Revenue came in at $114.48 billion and earnings per share at $2.10, both above expectations. iPhone and Mac sales were also solid.
The issue was the guidance: gross margin for the holiday quarter is forecast at 45%–46%, versus the market’s expectation of 46.3%. Ternus said memory prices are still rising—and are at “unprecedented” levels.

📊 $PLTR down about 7% premarket
Revenue was $2.31 billion, up 96% year over year. U.S. commercial revenue surpassed government revenue for the first time.
But growth in U.S. commercial contract value was only 11%—and that’s what the market is focused on.

🔌 Chip stocks are bouncing back: Nvidia and Broadcom are up around 2% premarket, while AMD is up about 3% (after falling nearly 20% over the previous three trading days).

🌙 $AMD reports after the market close tonight. The market expects revenue of about $13.1 billion and earnings per share of $1.95.

🪙 Crypto stocks: Morgan Stanley downgraded Coinbase to “underweight” and cut its price target from $258 to $120. Strategy bought another 811 BTC last week, bringing its total holdings to 849,327.

📈 Premarket futures: Dow about -0.6%, S&P 500 about -0.1%, Nasdaq 100 about +0.4%.

💬 Bafang take: A good earnings report followed by a sell-off shows that the market is focused only on guidance and costs right now. With tonight’s election results and AMD’s earnings, volatility could be high—leave yourself some room in your positions.
