U.S. stocks can now be traded as perpetuals. CFTC Chair Selig announced today that single-stock perpetual futures (Equity Perps) can be traded on regulated U.S. exchanges for the first time.

The products are classified as “security futures” and jointly overseen by the CFTC and SEC. Following Bitcoin perpetuals earlier this year, this expands perpetual contracts beyond digital assets to traditional individual stocks. The official message is clear: keep traders within the onshore regulatory framework as much as possible, so they’re less likely to be pushed to offshore venues.

The list reported by Kalshi and others includes dozens of stocks, such as Apple, Tesla, and Nvidia. Leverage and liquidation risks remain; the rules have simply shifted to the U.S. licensing framework. #CFTC #perpetual contracts
