Aztec, a privacy-focused Layer 2 network on Ethereum, has launched the Tierra (Alpha V6) upgrade. The update fixes a critical vulnerability discovered in V5 and improves processing speed.

According to an announcement by the Aztec Foundation, Tierra adds AI-based security testing tools and applies formal verification to core cryptographic components.

Client-side proof generation now takes about 1 second on a typical device, twice as fast as before. Message transmission time from Ethereum to Aztec has fallen from an average of 2 minutes to as little as 12 seconds.

Privacy applications launching alongside the upgrade include zk.money, Galactica, Nemi, Nulo, and Rolling Chat. Aztec now has more than 3,000 validators and previously raised $17 million.
