The Nasdaq-100 has officially entered correction territory as the AI rally faces a pressure test!
This pullback in U.S. tech stocks is no longer just ordinary intraday volatility.
On November 2, the Nasdaq-100 closed at 27,989.82, down about 1.4% for the day and roughly 10.36% from its record closing high of 31,224.69 set on October 6, officially entering correction territory. This marks the third time the index has fallen more than 10% in 2026.
But keep in mind: a technical correction doesn’t mean a bear market. What the market is really concerned about is whether the growing investment in AI can deliver the profits to match.
📌 Here are three details worth watching in this correction:
1️⃣ AI capital spending is facing growing scrutiny
Previously, the market was willing to pay high valuations based on expectations of AI-driven growth. Now investors are asking: With so much being spent on data centers, chips, and infrastructure, when will that investment translate into sufficient revenue and profit?
2️⃣ Semiconductor and big tech stocks are under pressure
Intel remains under pressure after the market was disappointed by its performance, and stocks tied to the AI supply chain have also been affected.
3️⃣ The index is pulling back, but it is still up for the year
As of November 2, the Nasdaq-100 was still up about 10.9% year to date.
So a more accurate way to understand this market move is that highly valued tech stocks are being repriced after their earlier run-up—not that the growth story for the entire tech industry has come to an end.
📊 What could this mean for the market?
BTC: If tech stocks continue to fall, risk appetite could weaken further, and Bitcoin could also be affected by reduced liquidity and leveraged investors pulling back. But BTC and the Nasdaq don’t always move in sync, so a pullback in U.S. stocks alone can’t determine the direction of crypto prices.
$ETH , $SOL : These are also vulnerable to shifts in market risk appetite. If institutions start reducing their exposure to highly volatile assets, altcoins could come under more pressure than larger assets.
AI-related tokens: The market may reassess the AI narrative in terms of real revenue, computing demand, and how much value tokens can capture. A valuation adjustment for U.S. AI companies doesn’t mean all AI crypto projects will fall in tandem, but the impact on sentiment is worth watching.
