Two exchange hacks in four days.
After Binance lost about $6.3B on Oct 29, Brazil's Mercado Bitcoin was hit on Nov 2. Chainalysis puts the theft near $49M, drained in waves across 17 blockchains. Mercado Bitcoin says only its hot wallets were affected, about $11M is already frozen with help from Tether, Circle, Paxos and Chainalysis, and clients will not lose assets. Deposits and withdrawals stay paused, and no one has been blamed yet.
My take: hot wallets keep being the weak spot. Keep only what you trade on exchanges, and ignore any "refund" message by DM, link or WhatsApp. MB says it never sends those.
