$BTC Today’s sentiment reading caught my eye.
The Fear & Greed Index has dropped to 26, still in fear territory. Yesterday it was 37, a week ago 48, and a month ago 70. In just one month, greed has plunged straight into fear—faster than the price has fallen.
At 26, it’s just one point away from extreme fear. Honestly, when the index gets to this level, seasoned traders usually split into two camps: one thinks that when everyone’s scared, it’s worth looking out for opportunities; the other thinks the fear hasn’t fully played out yet, and rushing in now is like trying to catch a falling knife. I lean more toward the latter—the index is just a sentiment thermometer. It can’t tell you where the bottom is.
The price action lines up with that sentiment too. The current price is around 77,235, and the intraday low is still around 76,388. It briefly broke below 76,500 during the day, then bounced back. Until the candle closes confirm it, I won’t count that as a breakdown. To the upside, it first needs to reclaim 79,280; if it breaks below 76,500, then 75,000 is next. I’ve gone over these levels several times today, and they’re marked on the chart, so I won’t keep rephrasing them.
ETH is the same old story, hovering around 2,250 and stuck below 2,300. Nothing new there.
What really matters tonight isn’t the index itself, but the U.S. midterm election vote. Ballots will be counted overnight, with results coming in around the time Asian markets open. Sentiment is already at 26; if anything stirs things up overnight, volatility will only grow. Don’t let emotions get the better of you with your positions right now.
With the index at 26, are you more tempted to act the more scared you get, or do you just want to stay out of it?
