Tonight, the U.S. starts counting votes, and crypto has already held its own “trust referendum.”

Tech in Asia data: Since the Binance hack, cumulative user withdrawals have reached $4.7 billion. Withdrawals have resumed, but people voting with their feet don’t lie—the hackers took more than just those billions in assets; they undermined the psychological bedrock of “I feel safe keeping my coins with you.” The compensation side is interesting: $2.54 billion in stablecoins frozen, and 95% of advances paid out. Solvency is still there, but what’s really been lost is confidence.

$BTC is playing dead around $79,000, just waiting for two things to land tonight: the midterm election results and Friday’s nonfarm payrolls. Rate-hike odds for December are at 70–80%, so the macro picture is pretty grim in the short term.

Oil has already put on a roller-coaster show: on Election Day, airstrikes hit Qeshm Island, and Brent crude went from plunging 7.6% in a single day to bouncing straight back above $107. Don’t try to guess the direction tonight—volatility is the main event.

My stance hasn’t changed: You can’t control exchange blowups, so check your on-chain permissions yourself and self-custody your large positions. Trust is fine; don’t add leverage.
