$XAUT Last night's move was completely given back today.

A little after nine last night, it shot from just under 3900 straight up to 3945, then climbed to 3958.71. I was watching the 15-minute chart, thinking: if it can hold above 3950 this time, it's ready to take off.

So what happened?

It did hold for a few hours, grinding between 3930 and 3945 all morning. Then it started edging down, one candle at a time. A little after four in the afternoon, it dipped to 3892. Now it's almost seven in the evening, and it's at 3899.53.

Every bit of that big move up last night is gone. It's back where it started.

From the high, it's only down 1.5%—not much. But after getting hopeful when it started climbing, watching it give it all back today made the whole day feel wasted.

The most frustrating part is that it didn't crash; it just kept leaking lower bit by bit. When it crashes, you can react. When it leaks, all you can do is watch.

Did you chase it near 3950 last night, or were you like me—watching it climb and sitting tight?
