The founder of Swan Bitcoin believes the real threat today isn’t quantum computers, but AI in the hands of hackers.
1️⃣ Words. Language models “probe everything” and look for vulnerabilities.
2️⃣ Context. Binance lost $6.3 billion (the FBI attributed the hack to North Korean hackers), while Mercado Bitcoin suspended deposits and withdrawals: estimates suggest more than $46M was lost.
3️⃣ Quantum computers. The threat is at least ten years away, and the network will have time to protect itself. He calls some of the talk FUD.
Personally, I see a nuance: he’s talking about exchange hacks, not protocol hacks, and there’s no evidence in the news that AI was actually used to hack these platforms.
