NYSE parent ICE and Trade[XYZ] signed an agreement to bring Hyperliquid’s perpetual futures into the U.S. regulatory framework, covering crypto, stocks, commodities, and forex. On the day of the October 29 announcement, HYPE jumped about 13%; so far, approvals and a launch date are still nowhere in sight, and the price has given back some of its gains from near the peak.
An agreement doesn’t mean U.S. retail users can already access it. Skeptics will focus on the lack of CFTC approval and a list of clearing members: a partnership on paper isn’t enough to support a functioning channel. The pullback after the spike looks more like the market pricing in expectations than new user flows materializing.
Treat regulatory progress as the gate. If there’s still no substantive filing in the next three months, or the spot price repeatedly falls below 80 and can’t reclaim it, consider this a narrative boost—not proof that the channel is open. Snapshot at around 18:07 Beijing time: Binance spot at about $84.4, down around 1.7% over 24 hours.
