Retail investor revolution! I speak up for retail investors!
To everyone holding $SOXL and “KORU” $KORU : please be extremely cautious!
Let me put it bluntly: if you keep blindly holding these two ETFs, you could really lose so much that you start questioning your life!
This isn’t a curse, nor am I dismissing others just because I’m bearish. I’d rather put it strongly in the hope that everyone takes this seriously and that ordinary investors can avoid as much loss as possible!
I. Just how dangerous are SOXL and KORU?
KORU: A daily 3x leveraged ETF that bets on the Korean stock market, mainly influenced by SK Hynix, Samsung Electronics, and the Korean economy.
SOXL: A daily 3x leveraged ETF tracking the U.S. semiconductor index, mainly influenced by AI, the chip industry cycle, and semiconductor stocks such as NVIDIA and AMD.
Both are high-risk leveraged ETFs. They magnify gains when prices rise steadily, but accelerate the erosion of your principal during prolonged declines and extreme volatility!
II. The scariest part isn’t a sharp drop—it’s still being unable to break even after a rebound!
Here’s a simple example:
A regular index falls 20% on day one and rises 25% on day two, returning to its starting point.
But a daily 3x ETF falls 60% on day one and rises 75% on day two, leaving you with a 30% loss!
Why?
Because these ETFs aim for 3x the daily return, not 3x the cumulative long-term return!
Even if you correctly predict the long-term trend, and even if the market climbs back to where it started, you could still suffer heavy losses!
This is especially true in volatile, declining markets: repeated ups and downs can erode returns through compounding, while a sustained decline magnifies losses even further!
III. My advice: combining a 3x leveraged long ETF with additional leverage will get you wiped out fast!
The scariest part is that you think you’re waiting for a rebound, when in reality repeated volatility may be steadily eating away at your principal!
These products are suited to short-term traders who can strictly manage their positions and withstand extreme volatility—not to ordinary investors who hold on for the long term! And they’re certainly not suitable for jumping straight into leveraged contracts on an exchange and going all in!
If you don’t understand them, you probably shouldn’t be trading them yourself—but there’s no need to blame anyone, either. Ultimately, you have to take responsibility for your own investment decisions. Grit your teeth and learn from the experience—that’s how you truly grow!
Capital markets are ruthless. At their core, they’re about monetizing knowledge and managing risk!
I stick to objective analysis and speak up only for retail investors!
