🚀 A Nasdaq-listed company is moving its shares onto the blockchain! In the future, they may be traded around the clock!
On November 3, listed company Canton Strategic Holdings (CNTN) announced a partnership with tokenized securities platform TSV LLC. The plan is to move its common stock onto Canton Network and launch an on-chain tokenized version.
This isn’t just about issuing a token to ride the hype—the goal is for the on-chain tokens to represent actual company shares. The company has hired SEC-registered transfer agent Fairmint to handle the token issuance and on-chain share registration. More importantly, holders of these tokens are, in principle, expected to have the same shareholder rights as holders of the company’s Nasdaq-listed common stock.
There’s also a new way to trade: the shares are planned to use the automated market-making mechanism of the Tradecraft protocol to enable 24/7 trading and instant atomic settlement. Put simply, traditional stock markets have opening and closing hours, while on-chain trading aims to let shares be bought and sold anytime, just like crypto assets. Atomic settlement means trades and asset transfers can be completed simultaneously, reducing delays in between.
Of course, participants will still need to verify their identities, and both institutions and retail investors are within the target audience.
📌 What this means for the crypto market is that RWAs are moving from concept to real stock assets. If more listed companies follow suit, blockchains may become more than just places to trade cryptocurrencies—they could also become new trading infrastructure for traditional financial assets.
For now, though, this is still at the planning stage, and the specifics of implementation and regulatory arrangements remain to be seen. The boundary between traditional finance and the on-chain world is gradually becoming blurred! 🔥
