South Korea Plans Major Cybersecurity Overhaul as AI-Powered Hacking Threats Grow 🇰🇷

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung wants to shift the country’s cybersecurity strategy from reacting to attacks to preventing them before they happen. His government is considering a central cybersecurity authority to coordinate security across both public and private sectors, especially in critical industries like finance, energy and telecommunications.

He also called for faster expansion of rural basic income programmes, more stable property prices and stronger action against fake news.

The cybersecurity push is the key takeaway. As AI makes hacking more sophisticated, traditional security measures may no longer be enough. A major cyberattack can disrupt banks, infrastructure and even national security. For the crypto industry, this is another reminder that cybersecurity is becoming a national-level priority, not just an issue for individual companies. Prevention will matter more than ever.
