Yesterday’s top gainers were really a list of coins that “avoided selling pressure,” not a list of strong performers.
According to data from CoinGecko cited by Kriptosignal (November 3, 00:03 UTC): 19 of the top 20 coins closed lower, with BTC at around $76,704, down 2.05%. The biggest gainers were:
• $YELLOW rose about 28% to $0.1303, but its market cap was only around $53.8 million and trading volume was $4.8 million, with a very thin order book. It was also still 37.6% below its October 25 high.
• $HOT rose about 14.7%, with trading volume of $36.16 million—much more active than YELLOW.
• $RAIN rose about 11.5%, with a market cap of $4.83 billion and trading volume of just $16.47 million, about 0.3% of its market cap.
Rallies that aren’t backed by enough volume are generally repriced within two or three days. My habit is to check trading volume as a proportion of market cap when I see the top gainers, and then decide whether to look into them.
