Elliptic provided a detailed breakdown yesterday of the laundering of funds stolen from Binance.

The total amount stolen was about $6.43 billion, of which $3.46 billion (54%) was in stablecoins. Key points:
• Tether froze the funds on Ethereum just 37 minutes after the $USDT arrived; Circle froze all $823 million of $USDC , before even a single coin could be swapped
• Before the freeze, the attackers still managed to swap $434 million in USDT for $ETH
• About $2.85 billion (44%) has now been frozen or seized, compared with only about 3% in the 2025 Bybit incident
• The funds were spread across 11 blockchains, around 12,000 wallets, and more than 40,000 transactions

The remaining roughly $3.24 billion is mainly in BTC and ETH, and about 28 BTC have already entered mixers. The response speed of stablecoin issuers genuinely changed the outcome this time.
