Many people think native coins and tokens are simple, but this is what matters:
Sending any token on a blockchain also requires the chain’s native coin to pay the gas fee. If the address has no native coins, the transfer won’t go through.
Native coins are recorded and produced by the consensus rules themselves, while token balances are recorded in the smart contract that issued them. The contract code determines the issuance rules.
Before buying a new token, check the contract address on the project’s official website. Having the same name and ticker doesn’t mean it’s the same token.
$ETH is Ethereum’s native coin. Token transfers on Ethereum also require $ETH to pay gas. Current price: 2249.62.
