Blockchain analysts monitoring the data report that North Korean hackers involved in the Binance security incident made a series of technical errors while transferring assets. The attackers mistakenly sent multiple types of tokens worth approximately $3.5 million in total to the NEWT contract address. The transfer is currently locked.

In another transaction, the hackers failed to perform a basic capacity check on the target liquidity pool and placed an order to sell PROM tokens worth approximately $5 million. They ultimately received just $71. In addition, the attackers chose to pay network gas fees through a MetaMask proxy. This payment arrangement may leave traceable logs, such as IP addresses, in off-chain environments.

The hackers also transferred approximately $250,000 to the Gate platform. The platform has frozen two associated accounts and stated that it will cooperate with the relevant investigation. On-chain analysis indicates that the stolen assets passed through multiple transaction routes and intermediary nodes, which increases the technical feasibility of tracing addresses and tracking the flow of funds. This may provide Binance with potential leads for its subsequent investigation.
