On November 1, 2026, Musk floated an idea for a fictional drug on X called Regretamine. He described it in full: “One dose and all your regrets will disappear. Of course, that includes regretting taking Regretamine in the first place.”

Less than 24 hours after the post, a meme coin with the same name appeared on Solana. One Regretamine token surged nearly 1,178% in 24 hours, with trading volume approaching $2 million and its market cap briefly reaching around $172,600. The community also whipped up anime-style drug ads and designs for fictional pills.

But on-chain data is flashing warning signs at the same time: token holdings are highly concentrated, and warnings about the risk of bot-driven trading have also emerged.

This isn’t the first time Musk has mentioned Regretamine. He discussed the philosophical question of “eliminating regret” on a podcast in 2023, but there was no coin at the time. Three years later, the old joke resurfaced, and within three hours there was a tradable asset.

A drug designed to eliminate regret first gave rise to a group of buyers who may already be regretting their purchase. Musk’s line in the tweet, “including regretting taking the drug itself,” was translated on-chain into candlestick charts.
