Breaking down the futures market: volume, price, levels
Whether to take this trade—the funding rate is more honest than the candlesticks.
Futures only care about three sets of numbers. Everything else is noise.
1. BTC 77103, 24h 76705-78878, change -0.88%.
2. BTC open interest notional: $7.60 billion, 24h +1.64%
3. Account-wide long/short ratio: 2.38
My take: price is down -0.88%, but open interest is still climbing +1.64%—new short positions. Treat any bounce as a retracement for now, not a reversal.
Execution range (based on current price ± structure, not an old chart):
- Momentum zone: Consider chasing only after breaking above 77,720; without a break, it’s a false breakout
- Buy the pullback: 76,178-76,641; don’t buy if it loses that level
- No-trade zone: If the 1h candle closes below 75,715, skip this trade
My position: I only buy pullbacks, not breakouts. If the structure holds, I can keep a core position; any add-on must wait for the pullback zone.
Data: Binance spot 24h / Binance USDⓈ-M / Yahoo daily (5-day change) / altme_fng / mempool_fees / defillama_chains / coingecko_trending. Missing numbers are not filled in.
Would you still hold your meme coins when they’re underperforming BTC?

Key takeaway: OI is open interest notional, not trading volume.
Inspiration: ETH is weaker than BTC: capital is contracting, so pause altcoin entries on the right side of the chart.
