Binance said Monday that the platform had secured assets covering about 95% of the $6.3 billion stolen Thursday in the largest cryptocurrency hack ever recorded. Binance sought to reassure users, saying that the company's assets, an insurance fund and a strategic $1 billion bitcoin reserve would allow them to be reimbursed. Stablecoin issuers froze about $3 billion in funds involved after the hack, preventing any further laundering of those funds. Binance recorded $3.6 billion in net outflows during the first nine hours after withdrawals resumed Sunday. The FBI and independent analysts attributed the attack to TraderTraitor, a North Korean state-linked hacking group.
