$1000CAT 1-hour contract open interest increased by 29.76%; price over the same period: -9.08%.
Folks, what is open interest? Here's the short version.
Open interest is not capital inflow: an increase only means that the total size of positions held in contracts has grown. It doesn't tell you where the money came from or which direction those positions are betting on.
Open interest baselines vary widely across coins. For smaller coins, changes of several dozen percent over an hour or two aren't unusual, while moves of the same magnitude are much rarer for major coins.
Extreme readings often signal more volatile price action. That's when you should be reducing leverage, not placing big bets.
