$KITE Big test tomorrow night at 9: 640 million tokens unlocking, equal to 17.4% of the circulating supply—is this “selling the news” or “buying the fact”?

⏰ Key schedule (11-3, 21:00 Beijing time): Kite will unlock 640 million KITE. The team/advisors/early contributors will receive 400 million, and investors 240 million. At the current price of about $0.12, that’s approximately $75.6M, making it the second-largest single unlock during the first week of November (behind the approximately $114M in BTW unlocked today). Total unlocks for the week exceed $880 million.

🔍 Why is it up +6.9% on the eve of the unlock?
This is a classic pre-unlock long/short hedge: buyers bullish on the narrative are moving in, as are shorts betting on a “sell-off on unlock day.” Kite is an EVM-compatible L1 built specifically for AI agent payments. KITE serves three functions: gas, staking, and governance. The “AI agents trading autonomously” narrative does have real-world use cases behind it—but a strengthening price plus an imminent unlock means volatility could spike.

⚠️ Three risk factors:
1) At 17.4% of the circulating supply, this is a genuine supply shock. Tokenomist has also marked this unlock as “unverified,” so the specific figures may still be revised.
2) The broader market isn’t cooperating: BTC is stuck around $78k, has yet to reclaim the 50-day moving average at $80,307, and the RSI is around 40. An unlock coinciding with a weak market could amplify losses.
3) The recipients’ plans are unclear—will the team’s 400M tokens go into staking or onto exchanges? We’ll find out tonight.

📋 My framework (not advice): Don’t try to catch a falling knife on unlock night; first see whether $0.11–0.12 can hold. After the unlock, watch on-chain flows—tokens going into staking contracts would be neutral to bullish; tokens going to exchanges would mean the overhanging supply is hitting the market. Use $ETH as an EVM benchmark, and track gas fees alongside sentiment in the L1 sector.
