$LA has dropped 3.4% in 15 minutes, while volume surged to 9 times its usual level. But the most striking thing isn’t the price—it’s OI: contract positions shrank 1.63% over the past hour, reducing notional value by 320,000 U, then fell another 1.79% in 15 minutes. When both price and positions fall, that’s not new shorts entering; it’s leveraged longs getting flushed out.

OI’s anomaly percentile is 100%, ranking first across the entire pool. Notional change ranks 15th, volume is still above normal, and the taker buy/sell ratio is 0.67, with selling pressure clearly dominant. Positions are shrinking as volume rises—a strong sign of long stop-losses being triggered or forced position reductions.

Price is now close to its own historical extreme zone. Don’t rush to say, “It’s fallen far enough.” During deleveraging, the biggest danger is trying to catch a falling knife halfway down. First watch for positions to stop contracting; then talk about stabilization.
