【AVAX’s Fear Index Is a Thermometer, Not a Medical Record】

F&G is at 37, marked as recovering, but the weekly average is still 40. It’s easy to spin this number as “the bad news is all priced in,” but it’s more like a roadside thermometer: it can only tell you how anxious people in the market are. It can’t diagnose the condition for you, much less prove whether the medicine is working.

AVAX is priced at $8.56, down 2.9% in 24 hours and 3.1% over 7 days, while trading volume is still quite active. In plain English: it’s not that nobody is trading; it’s that everyone is trading while panicking. Those with positions are afraid of taking another hit, while those without positions are afraid of missing out. This is a classic market divided in opinion, not confirmation that we’ve hit bottom.

So who’s actually affected? Short-term traders, leveraged positions, and people easily swept up by emotion. A slight recovery in fear sentiment could indeed tempt itchy-fingered traders to enter the market, but “someone is buying” doesn’t mean “buying pressure can absorb the selling.” As for AVAX’s products, users, and on-chain business fundamentals, none of them will change just because the Fear Index ticks up a little. If you treat sentiment as fundamentals, the business case just doesn’t add up.

Remember this: sentiment indexes are for gauging the market’s temperature, not for proving that AVAX’s business is getting better or worse. I learned this lesson the hard way back in 2017, and I see it clearly now. It’s just that I still haven’t cured my itchy trigger finger.

How are you feeling right now: genuinely scared, or already getting itchy fingers?
