🚨 A single-block “hiccup” on Ethereum froze swaps of Bitcoin, ETH, Solana, and Zcash on a cross-chain bridge 👀

I looked into it closely, and it’s one of those stories that shows you how crypto plumbing works behind the scenes.

🔧 On Saturday, Ethereum replaced a recent block with another one, something that happens from time to time. A 10 ETH deposit was in the discarded block, but THORChain had already counted it. When that block was replaced, it returned funds it had never received.

🛑 Its system detected the shortfall and halted ETH swaps within a couple of minutes. As a precaution, it paused 10 networks, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, BNB Chain, and Zcash, while AVAX kept operating. The user returned the 10 ETH, and the project itself confirmed the vault was back to being fully funded.

🕵️ The unexpected twist: with cross-chain swaps halted, people trying to move funds stolen in the recent hack lost one of their favorite routes, making everything slower for them.

💰 What this means for your wallet: cross-chain bridges are convenient, but they’re the weakest link. If you move Bitcoin, ETH, or SOL between chains, don’t move it all at once, and check that the route is active first.

📊 Meanwhile, the market barely blinked: Bitcoin is hovering around $78,200, ETH at $2,290, SOL at $94, and ZEC at $1,263.

Do you use bridges to move your coins, or do you prefer to leave them where they are? 👇
