Is Binance’s reserve report due today? Monday morning briefing: 3 things to watch this week
A new week begins, and it’s day five since the Binance hack. There are 3 things this week with timelines we can check for ourselves. I’ll list them without marking anything off in advance.
1. The new Proof of Reserves (PoR) report. A post on Binance’s official X account at 00:12 Beijing time on November 2 said the updated report was “expected tomorrow” on the PoR website. Based on the time of the post, that means November 2 (UTC). An earlier update said the third report would be available before November 3 (UTC). The snapshot was taken at 00:00 on October 31 (UTC). As of 9 a.m. today, I haven’t seen an announcement on Binance’s official X account saying it’s “live.”
2. When will withdrawals reopen on the remaining networks? In the same post, Binance said withdrawals had been fully restored for the 15 networks and assets in the initial phase, while the other networks were “still undergoing rigorous testing.” Details of the next phase would be “announced as soon as possible.” No timeline was given, and I won’t guess one for them.
3. The U.S. midterm elections, November 3 (Tuesday). This is the legally designated election day in the United States. I won’t predict the results or how they might affect coin prices; I’m just noting the date.
To be frank, “expected” and “as soon as possible” aren’t dates. We’ll know whether either happens based on official announcements. Don’t click on any “early access” links or “compensation claim” links sent in private messages.
Tonight at 22:40, I’ll check in and go over items 1 and 2.
