Binance futures liquidations over the past hour totaled $2.79 million: $2.61 million in long positions (93.6%) and $180,000 in short positions.
After liquidations, I usually look at three things:
① Who got flushed out: mostly longs, meaning some long leverage was cleared out;
② The largest was $ETH ($840,000); the price swings that follow it are usually the most extreme;
③ Whether open interest also declined: a drop means positions were actually flushed out; no drop means new positions are piling up.
The longer high funding rates persist, the higher the cost of holding positions—and the more people will be unable to hold on.
