$TRUMP Breaking: Gold awaits another decline… Major shift in gold price targets for 2027
Global precious metals markets underwent dramatic changes in 2026. After gold prices hit an unprecedented historic peak of $5,595 per ounce (equivalent to about 180,000 New Taiwan dollars) last January, they entered a sustained downward correction, falling toward $4,000 per ounce (around 130,000 New Taiwan dollars). This decline was driven by the repercussions of the conflict in Iran, which sent oil prices soaring and led to a jump in U.S. Treasury yields, alongside a rise in the value of the dollar.
The latest results of a Reuters poll of 30 analysts and traders over the past three weeks reflected this complex reality. Experts lowered their average gold price forecast for 2026 for the second consecutive quarter, bringing it to $4,495 per ounce, compared with $4,509 in a previous survey conducted three months earlier. Meanwhile, they raised their average forecast for 2027 to $4,650, up from around $4,610. This clearly signals that sharp near-term price pressures are coexisting with structural safeguards that support a long-term recovery.
