Don’t rush to buy the dip in chips: INTC plunges, AMD reports next; choppy with a bearish bias next week

The Nasdaq fell 2% for the week to close at 25,437; the S&P 500 fell about 0.6% to close at 7,580. On Friday, AI stocks took a valuation beating across the board.
INTC plunged 28.6% in a single day to close at 65.76 (its worst day since 1974), and fell about 24% for the week. AMD dropped 10.9% Friday to close at 504.8, with earnings due next Tuesday. NVDA fell 3% for the week to close at 204.6. TSLA rose 7.4% for the week to close at 399.8, the sole bright spot among the Mag 7.
Next week: AAPL reports after the close Monday, AMD on Tuesday, and Friday brings the nonfarm payrolls report. No FOMC meeting this week; CPI isn’t due until 11/10.
My take: Don’t buy the dip in chips just yet; expect choppy trading with a bearish bias and a potential pullback. AAPL is holding up relatively well, but don’t treat earnings as a get-out-of-jail-free card.
Risk appetite is shrinking across the board—the U.S. spot BTC ETFs saw $643 million in net outflows Friday. Don’t expect $BTC to tough it out alone.
