The contract address staying the same doesn’t mean the rules inside it stay the same. That’s what proxy contracts are all about.

【Conclusion】

If BscScan labels it as a Proxy, its logic contract can be replaced. The Admin has the power to change the rules. If you don’t know who controls that address, don’t grant a large allowance.

【Analysis】

The code of a regular contract is fixed after deployment. A proxy contract separates “the address you interact with” from “the logic that actually executes.” A project can use this setup to fix bugs or change the original rules. So the key question isn’t whether the address looks trustworthy, but whether upgrade authority is held by a multisig, a timelock, or a single personal address. A personal address can upgrade it at any time.

【Hands-on】

1. Paste the contract into BscScan and check whether Proxy or Implementation appears at the top.

2. If Read as Proxy is available, it means you're currently reading the underlying logic.

3. Look for Admin or ProxyAdmin. Click through to see whether it's a contract or a personal address.

4. If you can only confirm that it's a personal address, and the documentation doesn't make clear who controls it, stop before granting a large allowance.

【What went wrong】

I only checked that the contract address matched the official website, then granted an unlimited allowance. The address really was official, but upgrade permissions could still be used to change the logic.
