There’s another part to the withdrawal story that many people may have missed.
Binance replaced the list of wallet addresses for its Proof of Reserves today, and the newly generated wallets are now up.
From now on, all withdrawals will come from this batch of new wallets. Don’t use the old addresses to reconcile transactions anymore.
The message is pretty clear: if you’re still watching the old addresses, you won’t be able to tell when withdrawals are happening.
The new snapshot was taken at 00:00 UTC on October 31. These are figures reported by Binance itself, and all ten major coins are above 100%: BTC is at 100.04%, and BNB at 101.30%.
To be clear, these figures were reported by Binance, not verified by a third-party audit.
The zero-knowledge proof that anyone can independently verify won’t be available until November 3. That’s when everyone will be able to check their own balances.
So today’s step is just like switching to a new set of pipes. We’ll see whether they’re working when the first withdrawals go through, and whether the balances add up will have to wait until the proof on the 3rd.
Do you usually check the wallet addresses in Proof of Reserves, or do you just check whether your withdrawals have arrived?
Just my personal opinion, not investment advice.
