A list of wallets alone doesn’t prove that your balance is included. 🔎

On November 1, Binance announced new addresses on its proof-of-reserves list and said withdrawals would be processed from them. It’s a verifiable change, but it’s worth distinguishing between two checks.

An address lets you view the funds in that wallet. Verifying your account lets you check that your balance is part of the declared total. Checking one doesn’t replace checking the other.

Binance’s own explanation distinguishes between address ownership, balance snapshots, and cryptographic proof. To me, seeing a large BTC figure in a block explorer only answers part of the question. It also doesn’t prove that another incident can’t happen.

What information was hardest for you to understand the first time you opened a block explorer?
