ME News reports, November 1 (UTC+8): South Korea’s Gyeonggi Province has suspended a research project on introducing stablecoins, citing the need to consider policy developments related to the Digital Asset Basic Act and other relevant policies. The project reportedly began in early July this year, with a first-phase proof of concept (PoC) originally planned for August, followed by second-phase expansion and testnet testing from October to December. However, no substantive progress has been made so far. A Gyeonggi Province official explained that the project has not been canceled; the suspension is mainly due to the policy environment and does not represent a comprehensive budget cut. The original completion date of February 2027 will be affected, and the project may ultimately be completed later than planned. (Source: ME)
