Just over an hour ago, it was still only a plan. Now it’s a reality: Binance has opened its first batch of withdrawals, starting with the BTC network.
Binance announced on X today that the BTC network is the first to open in Phase One.
The Phase One window runs from 14:00 to 17:00 today, covering 15 networks in total. They’ll be opened in batches, ranked by user withdrawal demand over the past week.
The backdrop is the approximately $6.3 billion theft on October 29. Binance previously said it had recovered about 95% of the funds and set aside more than $6.34 billion in company funds as a backstop.
At the time of writing, BTC is trading at $77,763 (+0.70%, TradingView Bitstamp reading at 15:35).
In my view, repeating the recovery figures a thousand times is no match for seeing the withdrawal button turn green once.
Getting through this step shows that security checks and liquidity have held up under the first real-world test.
I’ll be watching two things: whether BTC withdrawals arrive smoothly and whether there’s congestion or delays.
If later batches don’t open for a long time, or widespread withdrawal failures emerge, then the “recovery” still deserves a caveat.
Would you move your coins to your own wallet right away, or leave them on Binance for now and wait?
