ESPORTS up 48% in a day, still 98.7% below its all-time high
Here’s my take upfront: I’m not chasing this move. It looks like a futures-driven pump, not a fundamental turnaround.

I’ve seen the numbers. Let’s start with those.
Binance’s perpetual ESPORTS contract is trading around 0.0106, up 48.5% over 24 hours. It reached a high of 0.012688 and a low of 0.007073—a straight-up 79.4% move from low to high.
Volume is genuinely huge: $184 million over 24 hours, 18.6 billion tokens, and 2.74 million trades. Open interest is 969 million tokens, worth only about $10.4 million.
The funding rate is positive at 0.0276%, so longs are paying about 0.083% a day. They’re not getting squeezed into a frenzy, but longs are definitely paying to push this higher.
The chart tells quite a story, too. ESPORTS was languishing at a low of 0.006774 on October 30, closed at 0.008862 on October 31, then shot straight up to 0.012688 around noon today before sliding back to around 0.0106.

Here’s the strongest case for the bulls, laid out in full.
This wasn’t a one-day surprise attack. The move started at 0.0071 on October 31, and today’s rally is the second leg. Today’s high also broke through the 0.0118 resistance level from early October, so technically, this is a breakout.
And the volume is real. A single one-hour candle can trade more than 2.5 billion tokens. Retail traders can’t casually conjure up that kind of volume—it shows that someone is really active in the market.
It’s also deeply oversold. ESPORTS has fallen 98.7% from its all-time high of 0.8174. At the slightest hint of a catalyst, it has far more bounce than the major coins.

Now for the bears’ case, just as fully and without holding anything back.
I looked around today and couldn’t find any new ESPORTS announcement, partnership, or listing. There’s no fresh news today to explain the rally, and we have to acknowledge that.
There’s also an unresolved lawsuit hanging over it. On October 9, an affiliate of DWF Labs sued custodian BitGo in London’s High Court, seeking $141 million in damages and alleging that BitGo sold locked-up ESPORTS about two months early. Details disclosed on October 11 put the direct-loss claim at $114 million. These are still one-sided allegations; there’s been no ruling.
The drop mentioned in the lawsuit is real: ESPORTS fell from around 0.28 in mid-March to around 0.07 in early June, a decline of about 75%. Even after today’s 48% rally, this is only a small rebound compared with that fall.
The scale doesn’t add up, either. The circulating supply is around 900 million tokens, with a market cap under $10 million, yet the perpetual contract saw $184 million in 24-hour volume. Futures volume is more than ten times the spot market cap. That kind of setup can rise fast—and crash even faster.

I think the bulls are right that there’s been a breakout, and the bears are right to be concerned. Neither side is lying.
But I give more weight to the bears, because this move is missing one thing: a catalyst today.
Without new news, the breakout can only be supported by volume and sentiment. When volume dries up and sentiment fades, the price will have to go back and find a level that can actually hold it up.
The 16% pullback from today’s high is already a warning. Anyone who bought around 0.012688 is feeling a lot less comfortable now.

I’m only watching two levels for the scenarios ahead.
If it reclaims 0.0118 and holds, I’ll accept that this is a second wave. Only then does it have a shot at retesting the 24-hour high of 0.012688. If it can’t get back there, it’s a false breakout.
If it breaks below the 24-hour weighted average price of 0.00985, sentiment will fizzle out. Then I’m watching 0.008862, the October 31 closing price. If that breaks, it’s back to the 0.0071 starting point—game over.

What am I going to do? First, I’ll see if it can establish 0.0118 as support. If it can’t, I’m staying out.
Chasing at this level means making money on sentiment, and losing money on sentiment too. I don’t want to use my own position to pay for someone else’s pump.
If it breaks below 0.00985, my thesis is invalidated. Then I’ll see whether it’s a retest or a full-on fade—I’m not going to make up a story for it in advance.

Will it reclaim 0.0118, confirm a second wave, and retest 0.012688—or break below 0.00985, fizzle out, and fall back to 0.008862? I’m betting on the latter. What about you?
