The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officially stated that North Korea was behind the cyberattack on Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, involving $6.3 billion. The agency linked the attack to TraderTraitor, a hacking group associated with North Korea, and issued an urgent appeal to the industry to prevent the laundering of stolen cryptocurrency.
An official FBI statement dated October 31 says that North Korea is responsible for the theft of more than $6 billion worth of cryptocurrency from the Binance exchange on October 29, 2026.
The agency announced that the cybercriminal group linked to North Korea and responsible for the attack has been identified as TraderTraitor.
These events occurred after U.S. President Donald Trump announced the launch of an investigation into whether the attack on Binance was carried out by North Korea.
