The cross-chain sector is facing another real-world stress test.

An Ethereum reorganization triggered a double-refund anomaly on THORChain, forcing it to urgently suspend cross-chain swaps across 12 chains. The negative impact has two parts: first, the suspension directly caused trading volume and protocol revenue to plunge, with 24-hour trading volume at only about $15.78 million; second, the team said the move was intended to disrupt the laundering route for funds stolen from Binance, adding to regulatory uncertainty.

As for the fundamentals, $RUNE is currently priced at around $0.658, with a market cap of approximately $217 million, keeping it among the leaders in the cross-chain infrastructure sector.

My view is neutral. Short-term sentiment and revenue are under pressure—that much is clear—and some of the negative news is already priced in. But the fact that the team triggered an emergency shutdown immediately after the anomaly emerged shows that it prioritizes fund security over availability. In an environment where cross-chain bridges are frequently hit by major incidents, that is relatively rare. Keep an eye on two signals next: when cross-chain swaps resume, and whether regulators take further action. There is no need to rush into a large position before the vulnerability is fully fixed; it may be better to wait and reassess once on-chain revenue starts to recover.
